EdSafe Staff modules
Helping staff implement the school's current safety governance and action requirements
Most schools have safety policies, systems and programs in place, but translating safety directions into practice can be difficult when staff workloads are high, risks are complex and resource support is difficult to access. EdSafe Staff helps bridge the gap by providing focused and practical implementation support for staff on whom the safety of school activities and people depends.
EdSafe Staff is available exclusively to ESN members, is customised to suit their current and evolving safety needs, and is delivered through internal school systems the school and staff already use.
typical EdSafe Staff module content streams include:

Relevant to schools Helping school leaders and staff keep up to date knowledge of workplace health and safety matters Flagging emerging issues and risks affecting or likely to affect schools A dynamic safety knowledge base for school staff, maintained and updated by ESN

Set in consultation between the school an ESN Enabling staff action on current safety priorities Easing administrative burden by providing the specific information and tools that will support staff action on issues and risks currently in focus

Brief summaries and links to legal cases involving schools in which serious and sometimes fatal incidents occurred Lessons to be learned and thoughts to consider for application in the school Support for controlling school risks so far as is reasonably practicable, taking into account what is known or should reasonably be known about a hazard or risk

A-Z look-up collection of short work and curriculum activity safety guides and hazard factsheets Providing frontline staff with accessible, just-in-time safety reference material for work and lesson planning and safety management

Equipping secondary or upper primary students undertaking higher-risk activities, VET studies, or work experience to recognise and respond safely to known hazards and risks to take responsible care of their own and other people's safety Engaging and training students to participate in fostering work and learning safety

In consultation with ESN, there may be another content stream the school requests for initial or later inclusion in EdSafe Staff Keeping step with the school's actual, current safety plans and support needs.
